Formed in 2025 as a locally governed affiliate fund of SMIF (federal tax ID 36-3453285, so it files no 990 of its own), with an endowment fund and a general fund. Security State Bank of Kenyon, with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, gave a $20,000 matching grant; Kenyon United Methodist Church put in $12,000 for start-up costs and is matching the first $100,000 into the endowment. Wayne Ehrich, the fire chief and public works superintendent, is vice chair. Its stated first priority is asking residents what they want funded: housing, parks, youth, seniors or community spaces. Gifts are tax-deductible; the brochure takes cash, real estate, securities, bequests and memorials, and a $3.30 transaction-fee option. It has raised money with free-will meals at the Muni.
